This webinar introduces the main land-use challenges in the Danube–Carpathian region and explains how different future scenarios were developed as part of the NaturaConnect project, including the data, assumptions, and storylines behind them. Participants will see where the largest land-use changes may occur, how they compare with trends across Europe, and what opportunities they create for planning and conservation. Key findings—such as historical forest cover dynamics, land abandonment patterns, and an example from south of Bucharest—will illustrate how past trends relate to potential futures. The session concludes with a discussion on the purpose and practical use of scenarios for stakeholders: helping define landscape visions, clarify trade-offs, and inspire more targeted, strategic planning.
